There are many ways to travel from Incheon International Airport to Seoul. These include taking the Airport Railroad Express (AREX), Seoul Metropolitan Subway, airport buses, and taxis. Among these, from terminal 1 I have tried the airport bus as it was the easiest way to reach our hotel in Gangnam.
There are two types of airport buses, deluxe and standard. Deluxe buses operate on non-stop or shortened routes to major hotels and destinations. They have comfortable seats with more space. On the other hand, standard buses are likely to be more crowded with smaller seats and make more stops. Fares will obviously differ, and will also depend on the destination.
How to take the airport bus
1. Check the bus route and purchase a ticket at one of the ticketing machines in the arrival hall (1F) of terminal 1 near gates 4 and 9.
2. Check the bus boarding number indicated on the ticket and double check your departure time.
3. Go to the bus boarding location.
4. Once aboard the bus, be mindful of the English announcement for your stop.
Taking the bus from Incheon International Airport to Seoul is not confusing at all. And most importantly, it is safe.
